CIE Tours International
Awards of Excellence
Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill was yet again recognised for
it's excellent standards of service and cuisine at the CIE Tours
International Awards of Excellence recently. This year the hotel has
received the coveted award of 'Best Dinner in Ireland' in the four star
hotel category. This achievement is a true testament to the
consistently high quality of cusine offered in the hotel's Lobster Pot
Restaurant, under the watchful eye of Barry Hearns and his Team. The
Minister of State for Trade and Commerce at the Department of
Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr. John McGuinness, T.D., announced
the winners of the prestigious CIE Tours International Awards of
Excellence at a reception in Dublin Castle on Tuesday evening 26th
February '08. The winners of the Awards of Excellence are chosen from
an independent evaluation carried out by CIE Tours International
Customers. Over 25,000 questionnaires were completed by CIE passengers
in 2007 and the awards are based on these results.

Hotel announced Hotel Manager of the Year at the Irish Hospitality
Institute's Founders Banquet & Hospitality Awards 2007.
One of the most prestigious awards in the hospitality
industry was awarded last night (Thursday 29th November) to Dan Murphy
of the Galway Bay Hotel as he was awarded Hotel Hospitality Manager of
the Year, at the Irish Hospitality Institute Founders Banquet and
Hospitality Awards 2007. The Gala Awards Cermony was held at the Four
Seasons Hotel and presided over by this year's President of the Irish
Hospitality Institute Ewan Plenderleith (FIHI and General Manager of
the Herert Park Hotel).
Dan Murphy as appointed General Manager of the Galway Bay Hotel,
Salthill in April 1999. Under his dynamic leadership Dan has steered
the Hotel to become one of Ireland's leading four star Hotels and was
last year awarded the Best four star Hotel in Ireland 2005. He can only
be described as a "marvel" when it comes to the amount of energy he
injects into his role as General Manager, and also into the team
surrounding him.
Best Hotel Brochure
The Galway Bay Hotel was shortlisted for the award of Best Hotel
Brochure at a cermony in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on Tuesday 23rd
October last. The HSMAI Awards aim to reward excellence in Sales
& Marketing and Customer Service in the Hospitality and Tourism
sectors and are now recognised as the flagship industry awards body
internationally. The best hotel brochure award is presented for
innovation of design, complete and comprehensive content, strategic
market placement and branding. In being shortlisted for the prestigious
award the Galway Bay Hotel has proven it's stature as a leader in the
hotel industry in Galway and indeed the West of Ireland.
